We do indeed need to show joy as Catholics.

My motto — “Be happily and uncomplicatedly Catholic.”

A List of the Most Blessed

Would this news announcement grab your attention?

In Geneva, Switzerland, the International Organization of Joy has announced a judgesworldwide program to identify the most blessed persons on the planet. Those who consider themselves qualified to receive this recognition can submit their names. On December 31, 2013, an international committee of judges will selected the first ten winners and a list of also-rans.

I tested this with several friends asking if they would enter the survey, and here are their replies:

  • Author (male) I’m skeptical, but what do I have to loose? Yes, submit my name.
  • Bulgarian food server (male)  No, because I am not blessed.
  • Fitness trainer (female) Yes, but it is all relative.
  • Mercedes garage owner (male) Let me give it more thought.
  • Christian Brother (male) Count me in.
  • Retired accountant (female) No, because I think this is a another gimmick to get my e-mail address.
  • Professional Fund Raiser (male) Wow! That’s a great idea.
  • Housewife and mother (female) I bet all the winners will be husbands with good wives.
  • Banker (male) Before I send in my name, I want to be sure there is no hidden cost involved.

Me  Editor (male) Yes, and if I don’t get first place, I’ll demand a recount.
