♦ This title is an appropriation and is more about the divinity of Christ who would not be subjected to sin. Similarly calling Mary the mother of God is more about declaring the divinity of Christ- Theotokos Mary is the bearer of Christ who is divine. Mary made her response freely and under the influence of grace to the angel Gabriel at the annunciation. (re: “If Mary had said “no”)
